Today we’d like to introduce you to Becky Lucas.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
In reflecting upon my personal and professional history, there are numerous factors that have helped shape my life and beliefs. The main two would be my family and my love of nature and life. From my earliest memories, my family has always been involved in the arts. Many of my aunts, uncles, cousins, and especially my mother helped form the basic love of art I have. My mother always had art supplies out or available for me to experiment with various media. As I grew older, I realized art is what I truly love and am passionate about. It eventually became a joy for me to share the knowledge and techniques I had acquired. Art became my profession and teaching became a natural part of sharing my passion.
Please tell us about your art.
My art is more impressionistic and I use a variety of media to create landscapes and still-life’s in order to convey my love of nature and life to the viewer. I have used oils, acrylics, water colors, pastels, water-color batik, and collage to create works of art to be enjoyed.
Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
Social media makes it easier to get your work in front of the public. You have to sell yourself and build a following. Develop a website to display your work. Display your work as often and anywhere you can.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
My work is on display in downtown Rome, GA at Ferrel’s Frame and Design. I have also exhibited at Floyd Hospital, Blue Ridge Art Center, The Harris Art Center, It can also be viewed on my web site: www.beckylucasart.com
