Meet Ashley Pettit of Living with Ashley in River North

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Pettit.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In a nutshell…I grew up in a family that put living healthy at the forefront, so I was always exercising, being active, and practicing healthy eating habits when I could; beginning as young as 10-years-old when I would run the neighborhood circle with my dad, watch him workout with a trainer, and loved playing sports. As I got older, I became a competitive runner and a bit hyperaware of my diet being a teenage girl. A lot of factors at that time in my life led me down a path to disordered eating and over-exercising. Unfortunately, when you’re that age, it’s about immediate results without knowing how you’re hurting your body. Fast forward through years of yo-yo’ing, dieting, and not being well-balanced with food and exercise through college, and I began to have several issues with digestion, food allergies, and intolerances. This was the time where I decided to read up on everything related to food, hired a nutritionist, trainer, and began detoxing my body in order to start with a balanced, clean slate. After 8 months of fine-tuning my body and lifestyle, I was addicted to learning more about health, food, and fitness! I wound up quitting my job and putting myself through school to become a holistic nutritionist and personal trainer.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road with me as far as health and wellness. Aside from intermittent hospitalizations, ongoing tests, food avoidance trials, dietary changes, and more- my 20s were mostly a struggle to figure out what to do and how to feel well and healthy. But, I forced myself to stay strong and forge on for answers.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Living with Ashley – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My business has evolved over the last 5 years with my experience in corporate wellness, commercial gyms, private nutrition, and more, I learned a great deal about what I wanted to do with people in regards to improving their health and wellness. I began by working solely one-on-one with clients and 90% of them were both training with me several times per week as well as working with me on healthy eating. I also taught some fun boot camp classes 3 days per week where the majority of participants attended for more than 4 years! I began evolving a bit so I could reach more clients and also have a healthy living aid available to those with smaller budgets by creating an online plan available to people in an e-book format so that they can have nutrition at their fingertips at an affordable price. After getting pregnant with my daughter in 2014, I began thinking about how to create an all-encompassing and on-demand service for people because after so long in the industry, I realized just how much people needed me outside of the few hours I may see them throughout the week. This was the birth of my 30-day concierge service for people who need a serious reboot and can afford a month of my serious attention (check my website “services” for more in-depth about it) and then, my online membership program for those who want to work with me, but are on a budget (also on the site.)

I specialize in not only general weight loss, but improving metabolism, digestion, increasing energy, + more.

I am most proud of my personalization, which of course, leads to high levels of client retention and amazing word of mouth marketing. I believe my love and passion for my clients and their health along with my very personally-curated programming and attention, sets me apart from others.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love how Chicago is evolving into a city where it’s easier to live a healthy life thanks to more healthy restaurant options, dietary restrictions are being addressed, fitness is at an all-time high and diversified, walking and Divvy are becoming more common, and so much more.

Chicago is still the Midwest, so the unhealthy foodie stuff here is definitely popular. Trends like donuts, cupcake shops, and more are growing rapidly as well as quick bad-for-you food delivery being common and less expensive.

Pricing:

  • Online Healthy Living Membership is $24.99/month or $199/year
