Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Hamm.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Ashley. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I first started taking photos when I was 6 years old. I found a disposable camera in my parents’ junk drawer and took it to the backyard. I loved the way the light shone through the trees and how I always felt at peace with a camera in my hand. In every part of my life, I was the picture taker in my friend group. I began capturing family portraits, then events and eventually engagements and weddings. It’s been an incredible almost 10-year journey!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There is a huge difference between being a business owner and being an artist. One does not equal the other and what I felt came naturally in artistry, didn’t always translate to the small business owner mentality. It’s been a challenge, but I love to learn and have appreciated all the amazing people from clients to event partners in this beautiful city who have been so supportive!

Hi! I’m Ashley Hamm, owner of Ashley Hamm Photography! I specialize in family portraits, engagements, weddings and corporate events. I started my business in college and from there have watched it grow and expand over the past almost 10 years! What sets me apart is not only my love for photography but my passion for connecting with my clients!
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success does not equal the number of sessions or weddings your book, but rather the joy you find in your job and love you find in creating and capturing beautiful moments for others! Photography is a job that is a constant gift!
Photographers are lucky enough to capture and help create moments that will be treasured for years to come, talked about around the holiday table or in a photo album opened by grandchildren in the future. Success is not money or fame or any of that. Success is the love you get to capture and create through passion.
