Ann, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
January 2018 marks my 25th year anniversary as a licensed cosmetologist. Less than a year after graduation, I opened my first salon and became a small business owner. It was a simple financial solution which gave me the ability to control my own schedule and earnings while passionately following my love of continuously creating works of art. My life found its direction. While being a business owner fulfills me tremendously, performing custom eyelash extension procedures daily is true artistic indulgence!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As with any field in the beauty industry, accessibility to quality product, precision tools and continued education is essential for growth and prosperity. I started my study of eyelash extensions while living in Europe. When I opened Bohemian Lash Lounge in 2015, it took me a little while to get adjusted to the overseas market. After being back in Chicago for the past 2 years, getting reacquainted with the area, and doing what I love for a living, the pavement is feeling quite leveled. Just in time for construction season!
