Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelina Mendez.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Angelina. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to do with my career, at one point, I thought I would be a dancer or a photographer. All I knew was that I had this creativeness and a simple 9-5 wouldn’t make me happy. So, I started looking into photography and googled all these amazing pictures and I found my self-being drawn to the details of the artistry, like that perfectly applied red lip or that bold blue shadow and I was hooked. I started with some drugstore products and worked in a local beauty retail shop & I practice, practice and practiced some more. I was a sponge because I knew I had finally found something I was passionate about! I found what I knew would indefinitely be my career.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Initially, I would say that I was my own obstacle, I would doubt my skill or talent when I would compare myself to other artists. One thing I learned over time was, this is the exact reason I love being a makeup artist because art is unique to the individual and no two artists will be the same. I learned to appreciate my skills and talent for exactly what it is and while the others are deciding if it’s good or not, I will continue creating new looks.

I’m a makeup artist that specializes in you. I’ve done bridal, editorial, avant-garde and prom makeup. I pride my self on making sure the client is happy with continuously challenging myself to create new looks.
