Meet Andrew Papageorgiou of PDG Consulting in Elmwood Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Papageorgiou.

Andrew, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised in Chicago and spent my youth competing in Track and Field which complimented my competitive nature and interest in sports. After graduating high school I studied Acting and Comedy at College, something that I have always had a great passion for. After graduating, I moved to Nashville for a year to pursue a career in stand-up comedy and explore a new part of America, despite thoroughly enjoying the experience, I missed my hometown and I moved back to Chicago. I decided that despite loving acting and comedy, I wanted to pursue a career that was more financially rewarding. I started working for a sales and marketing company around two years ago where I had the opportunity to not only learn sales skills and processes, but also client relations, business development, and management.

I began to realize I held all the tools I needed to open my own marketing company and worked hard for another 6 months in order to save up some money. I was lucky enough to have all the right contacts in the industry so that when I finally opened PDG Consulting in late July, I had a client broker to work with that helped me obtain some of the best clients in Chicago (such as Xfinity and the Special Olympics). Thanks to some amazing employees and members of management, PDG Consulting has went from strength to strength and has built up such a great reputation with our clients that we now have the opportunity to expand into different markets across the US.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been smooth sailing for me, as with most new business owners I’ve had to work long hours and make sacrifices. One of the most notable sacrifices that stands out to me is giving up my car in order to save as much money as possible before the company opened, that one hurt more than I thought it would! But I’ve always been someone that looks at the bigger picture, and I knew that the sacrifices I was making then would pay off in the long run.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about PDG Consulting – what should we know?
As a company, we strive to set ourselves apart from the rest and we have tried to focus our strengths on areas of marketing and customer service that we feel those industries tend to lack. We personalize everything we do for our clients and customers alike in order to create longevity within our business relationships. Whilst I was working in the marketing industry gaining experience, I saw that a lot of the time there was too much of a focus on the sales for clients and not enough customer service and business development expertise being offered in order to really help the clients thrive, that’s what I wanted to do differently with PDG Consulting. The thing about my company that I am proudest of however, is my employees, their teamwork has helped PDG get to where we are today and I am very lucky to be surrounded by such motivated and inspiring people.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I think my determination has been the most important thing to get me to where I am today. No matter what obstacles I faced, I always knew that as long as I worked hard and overcame them, I would be able to achieve my goal.
