Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Levoff.
Andrea, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have a masters degree in Spiritual Psychology and I’ve always loved to make people laugh. In my second year of school, we were instructed to do a project that had meaning for us. Some people started singing or gardening. I wanted to do comedy. I started doing stand-up comedy around the city after my daughter was born. The late nights and early mornings really weren’t working together so well. I decided to start doing videos and transitioning to online so I could be around more for my kids. That’s when Dope Ass Mom was born.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. It’s been a lot of trial and error and, to be honest, it still is. I’m learning it’s really about trying lots of things and seeing what’s working. Taking action and then getting feedback. If it doesn’t work, you shift course a little. The joy for me has been on the journey, not in the end result.
Please tell us about Dope Ass Mom.
My mission is to bring more laughter and joy to motherhood. My message is simple, sure motherhood is hard but it’s also this amazing container to rediscover yourself and your passions. There’s so much messaging from society about how a mother should be an act. I don’t buy it. I think what sets me apart from others is that I’m real. I’m not trying to pretend everything is perfect and my kids are always well behaved. I’m more of the person who will tell you yes, it’s hard but here are some ways we can ease the pain. Mostly, just laugh more.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Honestly, nothing. Maybe, I would have started sooner. I would tell myself you have all you need to succeed inside of you. Just start!
