Today we’d like to introduce you to Amit (Matt) Dhingra.
Amit, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
The Be Wholesome Integrative Pharmacy Experience had been on my mind ever since Pharmacy School over 12 years ago. But to create it, my training in Pharmacy School would only be the beginning. Additional training in Southern California learning about Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine in addition to more recent training in Functional Medicine would be required to initiate the process and create long lasting value for our patients now and in the future. There is no shortage of chronic illness. Understanding the role inflammation plays in disease and how to modulate it through improving our vibrational frequency through food, lifestyle, and a health building daily practice, has been one of the most fascinating undertakings of my professional career.
With the help of my wife, Priyanka (also a Pharmacist), our amazing team members at Wholesome Health, and our inspiring community of customers, we have dug deep to provide the tools and resources to advance the cause of consciousness and health awareness.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The conventional medical model has certainly created its share of challenges for patients and practitioners alike. The commoditization of health care has treated each procedure, patient interaction, or drug therapy like a number.
The human component involved in health care is shrinking and the disconnect between patient and provider is arguably at an all-time high. Although the chronic care model has significant room for improvement, we always believe a good patient practitioner relationship is step one in healing. This emphasis on aligning ourselves with practitioners who share our passion, has allowed us to play an integral role in the health care team collaborative approach and has worked to create new opportunities for patients to form stronger connections with us, their local pharmacy.
We believe the patient practitioner relationship is the first step to cultivate a healing environment. Step two is of course to offer a wide variety of tools and education that patients can take home with them for themselves and their families.

Our selection of products now includes, homeopathic formulations, essential oils, hemp (CBD) oil, targeted supplement therapy, essential oil diffusers, customized medicine, and conventional pharmaceuticals. We are careful and deliberate about the products we recommend. We want our customers to go home with products that make the most sense for them which is great for our business model because it leaves a lasting impression that spurs instant referrals.
Last week a customer walked in with a stomach issue due to a side effect from withdrawing from his medication. We asked many questions and listened carefully to his responses. We suggested he try a certain type of essential oil to dilute and rub directly around his naval area. The medication he was withdrawing from was a narcotic and we the withdrawal effects were affecting his digestion so we wanted to really think outside the box and be supportive of the good work that he was doing by getting off the medication. After he exited the store, I wondered how many pharmacies in America would have recommended using an essential oil to address his concern. It is the additional tools and the knowledge base that sets us apart.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
As the science evolves ever so rapidly, our role as the Pharmacy that others will replicate in the future will be to create a bridge between various modalities of health. Our conversation only begins with the medication, it never ends there. We will continue to serve our patients by encouraging their evolution. If there is anything we can do to help their journey along the way, we will be there front and center. We are grateful to all the amazing Doctors we work with for their hard work and service to their patients and look forward to many more years of expanding our sphere of influence and impacting the lives of many more without losing sight of the customers that we serve each and every day.
