Meet Ami Klinker of Klinkerbell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ami Klinker.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ami. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always loved fashion, style, and blogging. As long as I can remember blogs being around. I remember that my goal was to go to school for fashion after I graduated high school. But in order to do that, I had to find the funds to put myself through school. At that point, I decided I would join the US Army in order to pay for college.

Fast forward two years later, I am back home in Kentucky, working on my associates at the University of Kentucky. I noticed that there really wasn’t a fashion scene in my hometown, and it drove me nuts. That’s when I decided to start my blog, Klinkerbell.

Basically, it was just an outlet for me to dress up, and show how to style outfits on a platform other than the streets of my hometown. Once I completed my associates, I decided to move to Chicago to attend Columbia College Chicago. It was really moving to Chicago that skyrocketed my blog to where I am today.

I fell into a group of amazing women who really support me, and a community that nurtured me and allowed me to grow my brand to the level that I am at today. Chicago is such an inspiring city, and I love the culture and people that inhabit the city.

As of today, I just completed a 9-year contract with the Army, and I am graduating in May with my bachelors of fashion business and marketing. I’m so excited to see what this next chapter of my life will bring to the table!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. Like I had mentioned before, I joined the army to make my dreams a reality! (So contradicting right?) While being in the army, it took a lot of time away from growing my business. There would be times where I was gone for a month at a time.

And of course, within those months period, there would be business meetings, networking events, and other amazing opportunities that I had to miss out on. But it made me stronger and made me more creative on how to gain a competitive edge.

Please tell us about Klinkerbell.
Klinkerbell is a fashion and lifestyle blog. I try to be as real, open, and honest with my readers as possible. I have worked for everything I have and made it here with no help from anyone else. So I really try to express that with my writing. I share budget pieces with my readers and show them how to style it in a way that looks like a million bucks.

I feel like a lot of bloggers get really lost in name brands and designers, but they lose their personal style along the way. That’s what I feel really sets me apart; Challenging myself and my readers to produce an outfit that would easily be mistaken for the designer, all while ballin on a budget.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My parents use to always take me on these long car rides around rural Kentucky as a child. We would drive to some of the most beautiful mountains and hiking trails and just spend the day exploring. I love thinking about that. My parents are my best friends, and I will always cherish the memories I share with them.
