Meet Alicia Pack of Another Perspective

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Pack. She and her team share her story below.

Please kick things off with some background on the story.
This company is founded on free principles and the value that photography is a lost art. Another Perspective was founded in 2015 after Alicia experienced personal warfare. After many battles, she realized the only way to cope with the pain that she endured was to create. From standard photos on her iPhone 5s; before she knew anything about editing and being able to afford professional camera equipment, her photos held the power to evoke emotion from individuals who were drawn to her work. Alicia is now a lifestyle photographer, specializing in a unique style of expressing still moments through colorful and oftentimes, emotional imagery. Another Perspective is a service-oriented business based on free thought and creativity alone and Alicia values working very closely with her clients. Based in Chicago, Illinois, Alicia takes pride in her craft and enjoys having the opportunity to create and capture moments that last forever.

Alicia, has it been a smooth road?
A smooth road would typically be too easy. The road sometimes get rough and we sometimes get weary or lose inspiration for the passions that we tend to possess, but it’s all apart of the plan. I believe the personal obstacles and professional adversity that I’ve experienced since I first decided to take my passion seriously and focus on the detail and knowledge needed to excel in my craft has allowed me to create on a different and larger spectrum. If we happened to stay at the same level emotionally and creatively, we’d never excel or move forward in the direction that we see fit for ourselves and our brand.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Another Perspective’s aim is to create life, preserve, and capture timeless memories while removing boundaries on creativity and satisfying our customer’s vision through a unique and personalized perspective.

Another Perspective came about from my own initials, AP. I am an insurance agent by day and a photographer always. I am well-rounded when it comes to photography and the different ranges or style of photos. I have a certain love for monochrome photos and stills of everyday life. I’d sometimes ride public transportation and people watch just to capture the culture of Chicago in its everyday life.

As a company, I am most proud of my client reach. When I began to take photos on my iPhone 5s, I was simply taking photos to post them. I never really thought that one day I’d be scheduling my own shoots for models, artists, and business owners.

I’ve allowed myself to see the beauty in broken things, the beauty in simple abnormalities, and a view from my eyes the torn in a positive light and that alone sets me apart from others. My own personal perspective is Another Perspective. It’s simply far from ordinary.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Chicago is an amazing place for businesses like mine. There is a lot to see and do and everyone doesn’t have that opportunity in their cities. Chicago is a hub for all things creative where that be music, dance, fine art, etc. While there may be other business owners in the same creative field as you, the importance of collaboration is big. If someone is just starting out with photography, I’d say research as much as you can on your own. Remain a student to the craft and don’t be afraid to create and collaborate with other artists, even if you’ve never met. The power of social media and connections are life changing and we’re seeing it day by day. When I first started and couldn’t yet afford my own personal camera, I reached out to one of Instagram inspirations, Ellen (@ellen.mariee) and we met up and she allowed me to use one of her extra cameras. That day alone was great because although we’d never met one another, that evening we were sharing something that we both had passions for. We were sharing a creative side or ourselves that we’d always remember. This is a big city. There’s a number of cultures here that we as creatives can mingle and connect with. I’d say don’t let fear step in the way of connecting and collaborating. Don’t be afraid to reach out to someone, no matter how big you think they are. At the end of the day, we’re all human. We’re all people.

Great read and awesome shots. I’ve long been an admirer and consumer of work by AP and glad to see this artist featured. You can’t go wrong hiring this professional.
