Today we’d like to introduce you to Ajay Pattani.
In 2005, Ajay Pattani decided to optimize his family’s souvenir business website. Sales improved from 1 per week to 20 per day, peaking at 50 sales per day. As the Pattani family got quite busy packing Chicago Cubs gear in their living room, Ajay realized that he had a knack for search engine optimization. His parents were thrilled (even though they probably secretly wanted him to be a doctor or something).
Ajay’s digital marketing career began. He was employee #20 at Chicago-based digital marketing agency Resolution Media; his next big move brought him to managing SEO, Remarketing, Affiliates, Shopping, and offline advertising at FansEdge. After a few years of sweet, sweet success at FansEdge, Ajay decided to create his own agency in 2010. Thus, Perfect Search Media was born unto the world.
Ajay – please share the story with us.
Right out of the gate, Perfect Search began working with clients like the Chicago Tribune and Bonobos. Our team developed a proprietary technology that allows us to quickly build out massive search accounts with millions of keywords. Then, we got our first office ping-pong table. (Clearly, this is as big of a deal as the proprietary technology. We’re really into ping-pong.)
Four years later, our growing team needed some more elbow room. In 2014, Perfect Search moved into our current location in River North. We continued hiring Chicago’s top talent, expanding our client base, and incorporating the latest digital marketing technologies in our services.
Now, seven years after our inception, Perfect Search has 18 bright, engaged team members (with varying levels of ping-pong skills) dedicated to helping every one of our clients discover new avenues to grow their businesses online.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Business is always challenging and complex. Year after year, we continue to make mistakes but our strong relationships and our great team contribute to our success in spite of our mistakes.
Our greatest challenge remains achieving predictable revenue. (Isn’t every business struggling with this?) Right now, we’re focused on investing in sales and client retention.

We’re a digital marketing agency. Our core services include search and social advertising, SEO, content, and design.

Our main goal is to continue growing Perfect Search. We’re looking forward to expanding our team.
Personally, I love to travel. South Africa is on my list; I’m looking forward to exploring Johannesburg and Capetown.
