Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Wehrli.
Adam, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My family owned an appliance store in Naperville, IL. The store was called Wehrli Home Appliances and it was founded in 1947. I began working there after high school when I was 15. I worked there all through high school and I ran the delivery and installation department my senior year of high school in 2002. I continued working there after high school for 1 year until I decided to go to college at western Illinois University. I got a degree in construction management after 4 years, I graduated in 2007. During college was when the economy crashed so there were no jobs in the construction field. I decided to go back to work at the family store and I worked there until we had to close our doors in 2008. That was when I decided to start my own company. I started out of my garage with the old van from the store and my tools. The company started as Wehrli General Contracting and we were incorporated December of 2008. I started out doing remodeling, and odd jobs as well as my specialty appliance installation. Since that time the company has grown to 13 employees, 5 delivery trucks and 2 vans. We rebranded the beginning of 2017 and changed our name to Wehrli Imperial Installation. We now focus 100% on appliance delivery and installation.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The biggest challenge we have encountered is keeping up our quality of work with the rapid growth and high demand for our services. Another challenge we encounter is our scheduling jobs efficiently to cover our very large service area.
Please tell us about Wehrli Imperial Installation.
We specialize in high end appliance delivery and installation. There are many dealer installation companies and there are also many small installation companies which pretty much consist of a guy in a van. We are the biggest independent installation company in the Chicagoland area. The thing I am most proud of in my company is that we built in from the ground up. I say we because I have a close group of very loyal guys that have been with me since the beginning and without them we would not be where we are today.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I wouldn’t have been so trusting to everyone in the beginning. I had a few dealers that went bankrupt and ended up owing me a lot of money. I also would have looked more closely at my profit and loss statements earlier on in the company.

Hey, Adam, Jenny sent me a picture of one of your trucks and I had to google it to find out who the heck was involved. So glad it is you and you are doing so well..keep up the good work and congrats on what you have already accomplished. Hope you and the girls…including Jackie, are doing well.
