Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Adam J Cohen
Thanks for sharing your story with us Dr. Cohen. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
During my final fellowship in Michigan, I attended a conference in Chicago and knew this was where I wanted to practice. It was reminiscent of my hometown of New York City in many ways.
After completing my fellowship, I re-located to Chicagoland to begin practicing. After working for in group practices for eight years, I chose to start my own.
After building a successful practice on the Northshore, I opened a second location this year in Lakeview.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Anyone who would tell you starting a business of any kind has been a smooth road would be disingenuous. When the office opened in 2012, we started with not a single patient. There were days without a single phone call and I questioned my decision about starting the practice. It has been a process of hard work, patience and trial and error that has allowed the practice to flourish.
We currently have two locations, two medical aestheticians and are adding new physicians this summer to expand our services to include aesthetic body surgery.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Adam J Cohen, MD Eyelid and Facial Plastic Surgery and MediSpa – what should we know?
The practice focuses on the eyelid and facial plastic surgery. I am well known for face and brow lifts, upper and lower blepharoplasty, liposuction and injectables.
I believe in offering the best treatment options and allowing the patient to make an educated decision when moving forward with treatments and surgery. The practice is fortunate enough to have some of the city’s best medical aestheticians who have advanced knowledge concerning skin care products, chemical peels, laser treatment, and skin tightening. We are committed to having every patient look their best and natural self, whether through surgical procedures, in office non-invasive treatments or something as basic as a facial.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I am patient and pride myself on being a good listener to fully appreciate the concerns of each patient. I take time to explain all the options available to address a patient’s concerns and allow them to play an active in the decision process.
I recognize that I owe some of my success to the people who have stood by me in the last six years as the practice has grown. My staff is outstanding, with each member playing an integral role in the operations of the practice.
