Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Glick.
Adam, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always been creative, having gone to college for photography and enjoying home brewing and other creative pursuits. I like creating and doing things for myself, from working on my house to cooking, to most anything. For the last 15 years or so I’ve been a health insurance broker. I wanted to do something different, something more creative and wanted to help others create and do. The Pursuit Supply is basically my hobbies plus a bit more. We have a lot of different items with our core being products to brew your own beer and stuff to make instant and film photographs. We also have cheese making supplies, kombucha kits, canning supplies and everything you need to brew and roast your own coffee, from green beans and roasters to pour over brewers.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s hard running a store in 2017. We have to compete with big monoliths like Amazon that promise free shipping and rock bottom prices. Our advantage is we’re local and here to help. You can see the products up close and talk with us about what we think and ask for advice or just chat. But it’s hard sometimes, I feel like we’re fighting the good fight, trying to keep the money in the community and make sure we have a strong community in OId Irving/Portage Park.

We are a DIY (Do-It-Yourself) store on the northwest side of Chicago. We specialize in beer brewing supplies and film and instant photography supplies. We also carry a lot of supplies for wine making, cheese making, canning, food preservation, coffee brewing and roasting. We have a unique set of products and hope to be your home for projects. We can chat, hang out and get you the right items to complete your projects. We are a great little store packed with what you need to pursue your passions.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We plan on growing the selection of classes and refining our supply selection to those people need the most. We have expanded the amount of brewing and photography supplies since those are our core items. Right now we’re chugging along and hopefully in the future we can expand to have a large class space and more in store events.
