Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Amy Zornow.
Dr. Zornow, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am from MN, originally. I worked in a PT clinic with two PT owners and I wanted to be them. They were good mentors to me. I went to The Chicago Medical School for PT and graduated in 1991. I love outpatient physical therapy and that’s my clientele today–athletes, young, middle and older age patients. In 1995, I had baby triplets. In 2001, I opened my first clinic…by 2011, I opened the 4th PT clinic. I have an incredible Staff–second-to-none. We offer specialized PT services and have equipment for Balance patients that no one else around us has. We have competed against other chains of PT, hospitals and other clinics. 1st Choice PT is here to stay and are better than ever. Our prices are competitive, our hours of service are unbeatable and our care is 1st RATE.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Hard work is a variable road….mostly great roads for me, but INS limits and Direct Access Laws, in IL, make it a challenge. Private Practice is what I enjoy and that is why I continue in it. The reimbursement from INS is 1/3 that of what a hospital receives for the same services. We also compete against Physician-Owned facilities. Word of Mouth Marketing is the best method for us, however, we need to know many physicians to gain referrals.

I am the owner. I also carry a full load of patients. We specialize in Sports Medicine, Geriatrics, Women and Men’s Health, Balance and Vestibular (dizziness issues) and Neuropathy.
I am most proud of our Service and the loyalty of our Staff.
Our hours of service, Balance Rails and Women’s Health services and Saturday morning hours set us apart from other businesses.
What were you like growing up?
I love everything. I played Tennis, Softball, Volleyball, and Gymnastics. I took 12 years of Piano lessons and danced from second grade through college. I was in Student Government, Band, Choir, and Orchestra. I enjoyed walking and biking and drove all over the country. I went to Europe with a Concert Band and Choir for a month, post high school. I speak German, enjoyed baking/cooking and hosted many events, even as a young teenager. I loved planning events and still do today. I am outgoing, caring and truly enjoy people and seeing them improve. I worked as a Checker in a grocery store, worked for my Dad in his Dental office, worked at Wendy’s and accompanied the Children’s Choir at my church. I enjoyed traveling in the USA and all over Europe. I love everything.
