Monica, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have worked in the education field and found it my calling to serve learners and reform the American educational system. I believe that when one engages in authentic learning experiences, one becomes better able to confront complex problems, create inventive and original solutions to those problems, make a difference in their communities, and serve a greater good. Having over 20 years of experience in education, as a classroom teacher and district-wide administrator of the third largest school district in the United States, Chicago Public Schools, and now the founder of an educational consulting company named Learning Dimensions. We at Learning Dimensions devise innovative approaches when it comes to designing and supporting learning environments that are transformative in nature. I also started a philanthropic and socially conscious enterprise (LEARNtheBrand) that donated a portion of profits received to Learning Change Agents (the title given to founders and CEOs of organizations committed to being game changers in the field of education). Therefore, investing in learning environments that promote ‘Aha’ moments to learners of all ages. Learning Dimensions is a Chicago-based educational consultant company committed to improving the quality of education for learners of all ages. Learning Dimensions offers curricular resource solutions, strategic educational program planning, a social impact apparel line to raise funds to donate to educational organizations and a blog to advocate for meaningful, relevant and transformative learning experiences.

Not only does my company provide services and products to enhance learning opportunities for learners of all ages, but through LEARNtheBrand Impact Apparel, the social impact apparel line, visibility and financial compensation is provided to authentic learning-based organizations committed to life-changing learning experiences.
Learning Dimensions has been offering innovative education solutions to its clients for five years and have been able to steadily grow with a dedicated team of sub-contracted consultants to handle (curriculum design, technical writing, graphic designing services, website maintenance, public relations and copy-editing).
Has it been a smooth road?
As an educator by profession, I was clueless about what it would entail to be an entrepreneur. Through hours of self-study, accepting the help of others more knowledgeable, and learning from both my personal successes and failures, Learning Dimensions has been able to accomplish much within the last five years of time. Below are highlights of some notable accomplishments of Learning Dimensions:
1. Launched website within four months of existence.
2. Went from servicing 1 faithful client to more than 30 amazing clients and educational change agents
3. Expanded client services to include offerings such as strategic planning, technical writing, curricular and instructional coaching, and project and program coordinating and management.
4. Started LEARNtheBrand Impact Apparel, a subsidiary of Learning Dimensions
5. Have been able to share my entrepreneurial journey through a number of talks, including the TEDxPilsen Women.
6. Named an American Small Business Champion in 2016.
7. Received accreditation by the Better Business Bureau.
8. As of spring 2018, Learning Dimensions has expanded services to international clients representing countries in Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean.
Advice that I give to women, who may be embarking on any type of journey, is to ‘think outside the box’ and ‘dare to do something different because there is a whole world waiting for what YOU have to offer.’
