Today we’d like to introduce you to Karishma Mehta.
Karishma, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am a professional makeup artist based in New York and travel all over! I’ve been passionate about beauty for as long as I can remember! Watching my mom making others beautiful as her career inspired me, and I grew a passion for makeup as a form of art. So, when it came time for me to make a career choice, working in the beauty industry was a clear path for me.
Today, as a professional Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist, I love helping my clients & brides feel beautiful. I specialize in Print, Runway, TV, Bridal and Special Events. My favorite style of makeup is doing makeup that enhances my clients’ features while still achieving a natural makeup look. My extensive experience as a beauty artist includes working with reputable wedding industry vendors, freelancing for Giorgio Armani Beauty, Chanel, and numerous other brands along with talented designers and photographer and being published. The experience I gained throughout the years, led me to the profession to do what I love and I couldn’t be more blessed.
I love to serve clients who want to look beautiful and feel like themselves on their wedding day. I strive to create a luxury experience where the bride and everyone else who sit in my chair gets to truly feel pampered on such a special day. I consider myself so lucky to work with regular women and help them to feel beautiful in their own skin, as we all know too well how much society likes to tell us that we’re not good enough just the way we are. I love helping people to feel like a polished version of themselves.
“Learn from your trials and tribulations. Keep a positive attitude, and don’t forget to be kind.”
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
“STAY PATIENT AND TRUST YOUR JOURNEY”
Being bold, going for what we want and living with authenticity doesn’t in any way mean we won’t fail, struggle or fall short. In fact, if we aren’t failing or facing any challenges at all, it’s probably a good indication that we aren’t playing all that big in our lives. It’s important for us to make peace with the fact that we will fall down many times throughout our journey. However, when we make a commitment to ourselves to get back up, dust ourselves off, be real about how we feel and what happened and not let it stop us from being who we are and going for what we want, we tap into what true power, boldness, and authenticity are all about.
“IT’S OK IF YOU FALL DOWN AND LOSE YOUR SPARK. JUST MAKE SURE THAT WHEN YOU GET BACK UP, YOU RISE AS THE WHOLE DAMN FIRE.” – COLETTE WEDEN
Please tell us about Makeup By Karishma.
I have been in the beauty industry for 9 years now, with my focus on Bridal and event services for nearly 7 years. What a deeply rewarding, and incredibly fun journey it has been. My passion in life is creating, and my career has given me the opportunity to create beauty every day.
My goal & promise to each client is making sure they look & feel AMAZING! Your wedding is the MOST photographed event. It’s beyond important for you to look your best. I truly understand that & it shows in the quality and professionalism in my work. My focus is to work with each client to ensure that they love their wedding day look. I ask for complete honesty from my brides & I make an effort to make that personal connection so you feel comfortable communicating your vision, so we both reach our primary goal of making sure you look beautiful!
Every bride/client is important to me, and I am committed to paying attention to every detail. I’m always honored when hired as their makeup artist & I consider it such a privilege in being a part of someone’s special day.
I love helping my brides feel beautiful. Whether its the glamorous edgy look or a fresh classy look, I know how to create the most beautiful version of you, so that on your big day all you have to think about is marrying your true love!
Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
I think it’s been fully established that women are not new to leadership. =D
I feel that it is really important that we women embrace female empowerment to the max with the amazing platform that we have in the beauty industry. And take the mantra of female strength and diversity to a whole new level. Let go of those airbrushed ads with stick-thin models and keep those campaigns that embrace women of all sizes and colors. Every woman is unique and beautiful in their own way.
“Here’s to strong women!
May we know them.
May we be them.
May we raise them.”
