Today we’d like to introduce you to Faith Valdez.

Faith, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started learning simple makeup skills in high school, and as time went by I noticed I how much I actually loved what I was doing. As I saw my talent progressing, I knew I wanted to make this a career. While I’m currently working on becoming licensed, I plan on having my own beauty studio in Chicago one day!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Patience is definitely something you need when first starting off. No one makes it over night! I had to take time building my kit, as well as my clientele. So trying to stay motivated is the hardest thing, yet the most essential.

Please tell us about Makeupbyfaithv.
I am a makeup artist, I specialize in full glam makeup. I would have to say that my clients love how I transform their brows, as well as giving them the Instagram glow in real life!

Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
I believe there is a lot of opportunities for women in the media to change the narrative! Many women look to other women for encouragement, opinions, and other lifestyle choices. This doesn’t always have to be negative. Women can use their platforms for good.
