Today we’d like to introduce you to Daria K.
Daria, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I can say with confidence that the story began a year before moving to the United States when I began to work with a famous Ukrainian designer. This is my favorite story, which I can retell forever! I studied philology at the university, but I was always drawn to fashion. I already had a lifestyle blog on Instagram and was very interested in social media promotion. I sent my CVs to different designers for an opening as an assistant, but objectively, I did not have any work experience or proper education for that position. And then one day, I got a call from the office of that famous designer and they offered an internship at his Academy. The first days, it turned out they needed a new SMM manager and I proposed my candidacy without thinking twice. My job was pleasant to the bosses and eventually, I began to write articles on a website and in different magazines. I offered new ideas and they always worked, attracting new customers.
With such successes, I was sent to Fashion Week, to post about events and work of the Academy students (among them were designers, make-up artists, Fashion stylists). Then I realized that I just breathe and live this job.
I was given a free schedule, but all the time I was looking for new information about the progress and new ideas for our academy. I offered to interview well-known journalists, TV hosts, stylists and designers who taught at the Academy. Some of these famous people also invited me to work with them later. These interviews just blew up our social media and gave a very large influx of customers!
Just at that time, I planned to move to the USA and in the summer of 2017, having folded my bags, I went to Chicago, for my American dream.
Here, I began to study for a real estate agent, successfully passed the exam and now I’m ready to hit the ground selling homes! I continue to blog and recently created 2 new headings: how to become a real estate agent and how to promote yourself or your brand on Instagram. I also work on a new project helping to open a manicure salon to a person very close to me, and I hope that I will be able to make her dream come true! I plan to study marketing and fashion management more seriously. And I’m just confident that everything will work out the best way.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When success is easy for us, then the taste of victory is not so sweet.
Since I am self-taught, I was a little scared to be responsible for the social media of famous people. I kept trying to find more information, to learn those or other skills. Fortunately, I live the Internet Era and almost the whole world is on the tips of my fingers, with which I can google the topics I need and even become a kind of specialist. And I’m serious, everybody can do it this way.
Now, I have a million opportunities to choose my future path and the only fight is the struggle within me. I know what I want to do, and I know what efforts need to be done for making it happen. Just need to take one more step.
You can also say about me that I started on the path of new discoveries and achievements.
I have one rule: if I plan a new project, but I can’t start moving for two weeks, then this is not my business and I don’t passionate about it. The main thing that you need to remember in any job: you must love what you are doing! Moreover, think, what do you want from this? Are you driven only by money? Do you love your business so much that you are ready to do it for free, at least for your pleasure? If the answer is yes, then this is yours, definitely! In that case, sooner or later it will bring you much more money than you expect because it will have a soul. Your soul. And this is the most important thing in the work, to leave in each project a piece of yourself. This way everything works.
Please tell us about your business.
The first thing I associate myself with is social media management. It has started this way and I still have a passion for this business. I’m constantly looking for resources for development and I like to help and tell people how to promote their brand in Insta. Maybe in the future, I will open my marketing agency, so I want to study more seriously. In my lifestyle blog, I share tips about Instagram, talk about studying for a real estate agent, motivate people for personal growth, show beauty products, which especially won my heart. Sometimes, I collaborate with different brands and photographers and try to look for opportunities to improve my blog and give more useful and interesting information to my followers. As the real estate or smm career will develop, I want to tell the story to people who are with me from the very beginning. Most recently I started a new project helping to open a manicure salon for one very good person. And you know, this is also incredibly interesting! I’m now responsible for creating a new business on a turnkey basis and it’s so exciting! So many plans and organizational moments. I can enjoy every minute of everything related to my work and this is very important to feel happiness inside and share it with others.
What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
In every project, in every business, it’s very important to be yourself. To create something entirely your own, you don’t need to look at how and what others do. Of course, there are things and people that we are inspired by. But often, these are not huge corporations that are known to the whole world. They are people who once created something for the soul. Recently, I visited the marketplace, where I saw a large number of local artisans. Owners of small businesses presented their products themselves and this is very inspiring when you see the creator in person. I try to feel and be inspired by people and events from completely different spheres. It helps me to cultivate myself from different sides and bring something very new to my work. I’m also inspired by people who just love their job and work with pleasure.
I’m very excited to be noticed by your website in my 22. This once again proves to me that I am moving in the right direction and that all my doubts need to be thrown aside to achieve my true goals. It will be incredibly interesting to see what I will achieve in a year, in three and five.
