Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamara Granath.
Tamara, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
When I was 15 years old, my sister took me to MAC Cosmetics to get a makeover, it was at that time I learned my love for the art of makeup! I was so excited by the colors, textures and creativity that Makeup brought to me. A short 4 years later and I found myself as an artist for that same company! From the very start, I knew I had a niche in my love for bridal makeup. I found myself consistently glamming up brides and bridal parties! After working at MAC for seven years, I left the company to start my own bridal makeup and hair business! The rest is history! Here we are today, my husband and I run our company together full time and we have an amazing team that backs us!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, nothing is ever a smooth road without small bumps here and there! Some bumps larger than others of course! Our biggest hurdle was actually very simple, it was how to navigate through the world of bridal. It may sound simple but getting into the industry and learning the ins and outs was a challenge. My biggest advice would be simple, be you! It’s easy in this industry to get sucked in by social media! Of course, we always stay up on trends, but we try to keep it at a distance so it doesn’t consume us!
what should we know about Tamara Makeup + Hair Artistry? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are your glam #dreamteam! We love to add a touch of shimmer to an eye (a look we are very well known for!) or provide the perfect Hollywood wave or romantic updo! We LOVE being apart of the wedding day! It’s so fun meeting so many new people and seeing the reaction they have and confidence they show after there an appointment with us!
Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
Stay true to you! Don’t let the industry suck you in and change you or your craft. It’s definitely easier said than done!
