Conversations with the Inspiring Danielle Aguayo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Aguayo.

Danielle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Being a working mom of 3, I loved my “me” time, like many I loved watching YouTube. After watching to many inspiring women talking about their daily life, I thought to myself, hey… I can do that. So, I picked up my cellphone and recorded a vlog. I uploaded it to YouTube and fell in love. Throughout the year, I shared everything with my new friends, weight loss, cleaning, cooking, budget buys…. just daily life moments. I felt like there was so many women out there like me. Moms who worked, struggled with anxiety, weightloss. Not everyone has the big house, looked perfect every moment of the day. I never filtered my reality. I have grown an organic audience. People relate to my daily life and struggles. I have been blessed to have met so many people. Each day I meet more people. YouTube isn’t a hobby for me but a new purpose.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When people ask what I do, I tell them I’m a respiratory therapist part time and work from home the rest of the week. When they ask for more details and I tell them, “oh, I’m on YouTube” they laugh. Most people, family included, think it’s a joke. How can a 34 year old mom be relatable. I can’t explain it. People like to watch me clean and cook. People find my weekly weigh-in updates motivational. For the most part, the internet has been kind. Don’t get me wrong, the beautiful young girls with the big fancy houses seem to fit the mold. Is it hard? Yes! But it’s worth it. Most women in my genre are from the south. No one knows much about big city living. Different world and total different price of living. I never gave up! I made the mold fit me! After all, is CHICAGO girls are tough chicks

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Daniela diaries story. Tell us more about the business.
I’m a content creator for the YouTube channel, Daniela diaries. The channel is a lifestyle based genre. I basically touch on every aspect of daily life. Cleaning, motherhood, weight loss, budgeting. Everything! There’s no topic not touched. I’m most proud of my diversity. I didn’t want to be solely one topic. People evolve and life is ever changing. No two days are the same and I wanted my audience to know they aren’t Alone. I’m real and raw. I don’t sugar coat life or any topic.

What do you feel are the biggest barriers today to female leadership, in your industry or generally?
I feel the biggest barrier is our self-perception. I never want to hold myself back. Is it scary? Yes! But as a mom of girls, I want to show my daughters… anything is possible.
