Check out Theresa Sherron’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Theresa Sherron.

Theresa, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Born & raised from the Heart of Texas but recently moved to Illinois due to my husband being active duty. I picked up a camera around the beginning of 2017 when I became pregnant with our son, little did I know the journey it would take me on. After I had our son in July, I went into a fulltime photographer mother & wife, capturing genuine moments and memories for people. I have gotten to meet incredible people on this amazing journey. From families all the way to weddings I’ve created some amazing memories for people and that’s what I love the most! When my husband deployed, I traveled back to Texas where I got to meet some other amazing artist and expand my work. I’ve created moody art with wild hair and dancing skirts that made me fall in love with motion pictures. Capturing the moment and making it stand still.

If that’s from the movement of someone’s hair blowing in their face from the wind, or having a couple spin around in the sky, makes my heart happy. I love photographing and capturing the moody sky when it’s about to storm or when the sky begins to set or rise. I’d rather photograph a day where its gloomy and moody than when its sunny and bright. My work is the complete opposite of me. I’m this talkative, cheerful, loud person but when it comes to my editing and my work, I’d rather capture some moody but joyful moments.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
My work is very unposed and genuine moments. I create the moment for them with my words and immediately capture it through my camera. I try my best to make every session different and fun for them. Laughing moments are one of my favorite moments to capture and I get that through prompts I tell my clients to do! For example, couples are one of my favorite unposed sessions to do. I love getting the couples spinning around, running through the field, chasing each other playing tag across the grass, jumping around and laughing into each other’s ear. I try to capture every genuine moment I can get. Moments & movements are my key in every session. I want to see movements in my pictures when I take them. I love seeing that movement or moment frozen and still. I want to create art that’s a little different than most photographers, not by just what my clients or others see but also through the whole session when my clients are with me. I not only want to be their photographer but a memory they can hold onto forever.

What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
Oh yes! Never give up & never stop pushing yourself. I feel I have come such a long way in such a short amount of time because I constantly went out and practice I never stopped and said “I’m where I want to be now, I don’t need to practice anymore”. I constantly did random free model calls for a specific look I was going for to try something different. I always continued to try and think outside of the box and to try and create something different and fun I wanted to see with my work. Sometimes, if I hadn’t photographed something for a couple of days, I’d start creating stuff in my head of ideas I wanted to do and would go make that magic happen.

Another advice is, please don’t let other photographers try and bring you down. When I first started, a few photographers and well people, didn’t believe in me and told me I wouldn’t get far, well look where I am at today. When you truly have a passion and a gift, nothing can get in your way. Just continue to do what YOU love.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
