Today we’d like to introduce you to Nidhi Garg.
Nidhi, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
My journey started in 2005 when my husband’s job landed us in the United States with our two year old son and less than a year old daughter. While my husband was busy with his job assignments, I had the responsibility of our lovely kids who needed me completely.
I had traveled a lot with my parents as a kid, with a fascination towards Nature Photography…. I would spend hours admiring the Skies, especially at Twilight. I was completely enchanted by the alignment of Stars, the phases of Moon, the rising Sun, the lightening from Thunderstorms, Rainfall, and Rainbows. Growing up, I started exploring Art in its various forms, reflecting my Love for Nature through my artsy skills. Experimenting with Clay, Wood, Canvas, Paper, and Metal was a part of me, which somewhat disappeared for several years, in a happily Married Life. I had inherited Artistic skills from my Mother, and Business skills from my Father, and had an intense desire to accomplish myself, though finding the right path was a constant Challenge.
Eventually, with the support of my family I invested in a small business and started importing Glass Beads, Gemstones, Copper and some Silver. Internet access and technology advancements gave me an opportunity to strike the right balance, I needed on a professional and personal front. I could research, make connections, work remotely and at the same time, be the perfect homemaker. My Business got me, in contact with few talented jewelry artist, whose work was quite fascinating. In less than a year, I was learning new designing techniques and experimenting again in life, but this time with Jewelry making skills. It was like reliving and reviving my passion. My Initial Years of Jewelry included Bright and Bold Glass Beads Statements. But, somehow, I was unable to relate them to Life or the Real Me, as if they were missing a Soul…. I continued with my Business, and designing as a hobby. In few years, while learning about Gemstones, I discovered my profound Love for Earthy Elements which lead me to a transformative journey of designing with Nature resources. My designs were now more appealing and resonated with me. Small Craft shows gave me an opportunity to sell my jewelry and get vital feedbacks to improvise.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
Earthkarma was founded in 2014, with two soul elements, Earth and Karma. The name itself says a lot about my work and inspiration. I firmly believe jewelry to be a jewel in real sense not just an object of fashion. A design that has an insight, a soul of its own, a piece that could be cherished through generations, and has its complete worth. After several years of nurturing my passions, I learned to manifest the Healing Energies of Nature and my Spiritual aspects through my work. My designs mostly feature Earthy Elements in their boldest forms with Minimal settings. The Stone and its Aura are my Supreme Power. My Gemstones are not merely big and bold; they carry with them the Energy and Faith, with which I select them for my designs. Moonstones and SterlingSilver are my favorite Elements, as they carry the Devine Energies of the Moon Goddess. Our Ancient and prehistoric Cultures had rich knowledge on Gemstones’ healing properties. I earnestly thrive on using this vast Science for my designs in the form of Statement Pendants, Chakra Healing, Karma Inspired, Birthstones Jewelry, and many more.
I am very thankful that Mother Nature gave me exactly what I needed at exactly the right time. The Rest is My Karma
What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
There was a time in my initial days of business when I would think there are such great Artist around and three is very little scope for me. My Faith and Belief in my Karma, combined with my intense Passion for my work helped me carve a small niche for myself. Today, I find myself competing with my own self to do much better each time. I am a Dreamer, and firmly believe if we have the right kind of Energy, nothing can stop us from accomplishing our goals and fulfilling our dreams. I have come a long way, but feels my Journey has just started.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
