Today we’d like to introduce you to Mosher.

Mosher is a Chicago based artist/muralist living in beautiful Logan Square. Having painted several murals in the city, his trademark monkey character and vivid, comic book like painting style have become an iconic part of the burgeoning Chicago mural scene. His work can be found in numerous cities including New York, Colorado, St. Louis, Miami and St. Petersburg.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I’m a Chicago based artist originally from Florida. Obsessed with cartoons and comic books, I began making art at a very young age and have continued drawing heavily from these early influences. After moving to Chicago and working some odd jobs I finally made the move to becoming a full time artist and supporting myself with my work. I draw or paint every day and still find the same enjoyment in creating that I did as a child.

Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
Social media is a great tool but it has its drawbacks. Obviously artists can find a lot of great inspiration there but it can be hard to stand out in such a large crowd. I also know of some artists who’ve had work stolen or appropriated by businesses. It’s great to be able to promote new work on these platforms but artists should be weary and know how to protect themselves and their art.
