Check out Glenn Payne’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Glenn Payne.

Glenn, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I’ve been an artist my entire life. I went to school for Fine Art at Mississippi State University and then got into filmmaking right as I graduated. I’ve been scratching and clawing at both ever since. Each artist’s story is made up of numerous journeys. I’ve been fortunate enough to find myself in interesting situations along the way. As a matter of fact, I’m smack in the middle of one right now…

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I make films, drawings and paintings. I’m also an improviser and an actor so I’m always on the go. I suppose I don’t really have much of a choice. I’ve always been compelled to create and work hard. If I’m not doing both for too long I start to feel very “wrong.” I suppose it’s worth mentioning that I usually only have one speed. I’m either all in or totally out. I hope people look at my work and consider new ideas they hadn’t before, or at least maybe take a moment to view things in a different light.

What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
I think strongly considered the risk reward factor of any artistic endeavor is a great idea. I’m sure we all think about it, but there are usually ways we can cut down the risk that we don’t think about in the moment. If you’re doing Art Festivals out of state make sure to cut your expenses down as much as humanly possible (air bnb versus a hotel, etc.). If you’re making a film spend as little money as humanly possible. If you’re submitting your work to a gallery find one that you can have nice communication with. Maybe there’s a gallery that’s close enough for you to pop in unexpectedly now and then. That way you can see how your work is being represented.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
You can see my fine Art at www.glennpayne.com. I’ll have tons of paintings and drawings posted there. You can watch my films/projects Earthrise and Stagrassle Paranormal on Amazon Prime, as well as other various VOD and DVD/Bluray providers. Our newest film, DRIVEN, is almost complete! Check it out on twitter, Instagram and Facebook at @drivenmovie.
