Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Gomez.
Aaron, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
As a young boy, anything involving beauty fascinated me. Trying to find my passion in life was a long journey of trial and error, but through that I found a career I absolutely love. I started off doing makeup for theatre productions I was performing in, and thought “why not go to school for this?” I then enrolled at London Eyes Makeup Academy to sharpen my skills as an artist. After I was finished with the course, I worked at an AVEDA salon to gain experience as an artist, followed by working as a Makeup Artist at Sephora. While I was at Sephora, it sparked my interest in the importance of skincare. I then started my AVEDA esthetics journey by working at 2 affiliated salon/spas. I am always eager to learn the latest and greatest treatments and trends.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I consider my makeup style “Natural Glam” I love to enhance a client’s best features and ensure they look Glamorous, but still like themselves. When I do a client’s makeup, my favorite part is the “after” it is truly amazing to see someone look at themselves so confidently and feeling stunning.
In your view, what is the biggest issue artists have to deal with?
A big challenge that makeup artists are facing is mobile makeup apps such as “Glamsquad.” They are bringing down the rates that we professional artists have worked so hard for. If this company continues, these artists may not be able to make a living wage.
