We met during a model bootcamp session. He was the photographer and I was the model coach. When I laid eyes on him, I melted inside. He was my fantasy man I always dreamt of. He began taking photos of the models who attended the class. Up next, it was my turn. I stepped in front of him and his camera and began my photoshoot. Once the shoot wrapped, we introduced ourselves formally. We had a brief conversation and he let me know he had eyes for me as well. He then made a bold statement, “You are going be my wife one day. I’m going to marry you.” I smiled from ear to ear. We connected on social media never to have physical interactions or telephone calls between one another. Eleven years had passed. I finally contacted him to do a photoshoot for me. He didn’t respond at first but two weeks later, I received a reply. Read more>>

We started making our sangria for family & friends and from there our business started to grow. People then began to ask if we could make it for their parties and word started to spread. After making sangria for many years with the encouragement from our family& friends, we decided to look into opening up our own sangria company with lots of trial & error it took us 4 1/2 years to get our business up and running. With the help of city of Chicago, an organization called Score, Loyola university business school, Accion, Sam Adams, Governors State university, village of Oak Lawn and of course, my family & friends we were able to open our business in December of 2016. Read more>>

I started real estate in 1999. My friend owned her own brokerage and she suggested to me that I get my real estate license. I said NO. She said I could sell ice to eskimos. The rest is history. I stayed with her office for 4 years and then decided I wanted to look at other companies in case the real estate market changed. I looked for a company that had great marketing and services to go along with my high energy – at the smaller company we had to reinvent the wheel on everything we did – I went and chatted with Baird & Warner and have been there for 14 years. Love the way they have so much marketing and services to make our jobs easier. While I work on all my marketing, they do most everything in house which makes life easy – and more time for me to focus on selling my listings. Read more>>

We opened in January of 2008 after remodeling a vacant storefront. We will celebrate our 10th anniversary January 13, 2018. There are three theater companies who regularly perform at Beatniks, Hammond Community Theater, Variety Theater, and Beatniks Entertainment. We have a play every two months and two original variety comedy shows (The Beatnik Babes) at spring and Christmas. We also have occasional musical guests, or traveling troupes. We are a coffee house/ theater, “where Art meets Joe” BEATNIKS was created by Rip and Bonnie Johnson as a place for creative minds to try out new material, for theater groups who need a place to perform, to offer the public a place to relax, have a cup of coffee, maybe a snack or two, and be entertained. Read more>>

I took photography classes in high school, then a couple more in college (back in the film days). However, I always just did it as a hobby while I pursued a few different career options. Then, while I was working as a designer at a music magazine, my interest turned back to it as I began to do shoots for it, first concert shooting, then more portrait work. After my tenure there ended, I decided to give it a go and make it my full-time career. Luckily, I had made enough contacts at the magazine to be able to start with a bit of an advantage, since I didn’t have to approach outlets with hat in hand, trying to convince them I was capable. Since then, I’ve been able to expand into advertising, events, and just about any kind of style or feel needed, and to shoot for major outlets such as Rolling Stone, Netflix, MTV, and the likes. Read more>>
