Today we’d like to introduce you to Willie Sawyer.
Willie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I moved to Saint Paul, I was at the Artists’ Quarters in Saint Paul to watch my best friend perform poetry at their open mic. After he left the stage, he talked me into trying comedy comedy. I have been on stage, ever since.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Race is always a factor. Travelling can be rough, especially in the winter. Being away from my wife and children is tough.
Please tell us about Comedian Big Will Sawyer .
I am a comedian for every crowd. I have worked in corporate settings, churches, private clubs, schools, night clubs, bars, weddings, comedy clubs, and back yard Birthday parties. I can tone it down for the early crowd and ramp it up for the late night crowd.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My father playing comedy records every Saturday afternoon.
