Today we’d like to introduce you to Trinidad Garcia.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have been Boxing since the age of 7. Stopped around 13 came back around 18 years old turn pro at 21 till I was 32 years old. During that time I had to take an extended break starting a family multiple injuries so between that time I was off about four years.
During those four years, I was working for a communication company. At that time the economy crashed and I lost my job. So I decided to reach out to an old promoter in Chicago who was opening a new Boxing Gym.
He gave me a job cleaning helping around the gym small little jobs but it helped considering I have a family. As time went on everyday white collared people would ask me to do personal training with them. So I started in 2013 I end up having 25 to 30 clients at a time that wanted personal training sessions from me. So the promoter who gave me a job sold the gym and I decided to leave a short while after.
My clients all followed I would work out people in kitchens in high-end restaurants their houses parks any empty spaces. Been my business partner who was just a client of mine at the time. Asked me when we open up a gym together. I first was very hesitant because I was scared of the responsibility. But I have a great partner and a great team behind me. So we went on that adventure together in 2016 six months later we open up Unanimous Boxing Gym on June 14, 2016.
Has it been a smooth road?
I would say it has been a smooth road most of the time LOL. I would say the hardest part is making sure that you continue enjoying and love what you do.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Unanimous Boxing Gym story. Tell us more about the business.
As a Boxing Gym that caters mostly to every day white collar people. We wanted to stand out by it not just being a place where you had a bag. That is one of the reasons why I hired professional fighters or inspiring professional fighters or seasoned professional trainers who work with professional fighters.
So we can teach you all the basics so that if you go to another gym you can say I learned at Unanimous Boxing Gym. We also specialize in strength and conditioning we have whole lower level dedicated to strengthening conditioning with one of the best young and up-and-coming certified trainers in the business.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The one great part about our gym is that Boxing never changes in the sense that the basics are pretty much the basics. We see ourselves in multiple cities across the United States. We will be looking in Austin Texas soon as well San Diego the skies the limit
