Today we’d like to introduce you to MaryKate Schmidt.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Although I was an athlete my whole life and even played Division I volleyball I always struggled with on/off dieting and living a YOYO life. I could never really to seem to find balance, was constantly fluctuating in weight and didn’t know what eating healthy really meant. I moved to Scottsdale, Arizona for a job and decided to refresh my mind by starting a new workout program, Kayla Itsines BBG guide. This program encouraged me to start a fitness Instagram where I soon realized thousands of other women felt the same way I did — basically lost when it came to fitness and nutrition. After seeing major results and losing 30lbs I knew I had to share my knowledge with others and help them feel the way I did – CONFIDENT! I started my own program, FTF, which is a combination of weight training, cardio, and a community. I launched my program on May 7th, 2018 and have almost one thousand girls participating nationally. I receive messages from women all over the world telling me how much I have motivated, inspired them, and ultimately changed their lives, which is the best part. My goal is to empower women and through fitness, I am able to do so every day with my FTF guide!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I was in the right place at the right time with my fitness journey, and my business, but nothing is smooth sailing. I’ve learned with anything in life there is always going to be a bump in the road, a hiccup or somewhere you can improve. Right now, I’m always thinking about what is next? How am I going to keep up, evolve, become bigger, and produce the best quality content every day. I always want to keep getting better and better, which is the best part about business because you are constantly learning how you can improve!
My advice is to keep going no matter what. There is no dream too big and if you don’t believe in you, nobody will. You have to manage your own expectations and constantly make yourself uncomfortable because if you’re content there is something off. Strive to be uncomfortable that’s when the magic happens!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Froyotofitness – what should we know?
Froyotofitness strives to help women live a healthy realistic lifestyle. Everyone wants to be healthy and fit, but walking around with washboard abs every day just isn’t realistic. Life is meant to be lived and I think you can do so and be fit at the same time. I am most proud of being real and authentic. I want my clients to know I’m more than just a face behind a screenwriting posts. I am a real person, with a real job, and a real life. I also want my clients to feel like part of a community. Sure anyone can make a good workout program, but without the community/engagement there is nothing but sweat. You need support from your team and positive vibes!
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
“Go for it.” People are going to judge you, doubt you, make you feel crazy for having a vision, but regardless of what anyone says ALWAYS go after what you want and don’t let anyone stand in your way. Those who are judging are too scared to take a risk, so take it as a compliment and go after what you want!
