Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaili Mills.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m a coffee cynosure, lover of Jesus, chocoholic, military wife, and health and wellness advocate. Florida born, Georgia raised and bound for a life of travel with my Marine. The sun shines brightest when I’m with my honey, whether it’s going on spontaneous day trips or being total homebodies binging our latest Netflix series.
Nutrition is a huge part of my life (obv). So much so, that I received my degree in Nutrition and Food Science with a Community Nutrition emphasis from Georgia Southern University (Hail Southern!). It was not until I began my very own health and wellness journey back in 2013, that I viewed nutrition as an investment in myself and not a burden that I needed to take on in order to meet the status quo. Here at Measure Me Whole, health and wellness is a way of life where food is viewed as medicine for the body and downright good for the soul! Measure Me Whole is where I let you in on all my nutrition secrets, wellness tips and tricks, and delicious recipes in order to inspire you to become the happiest, healthiest, version of yourself that you can be. Here, balance is key to living this beautiful thing we call life to the fullest and I can’t wait to show you how!
Has it been a smooth road?
The road has absolutely not been smooth… but in all honesty, if I hadn’t gone through some struggles I would not be nearly the strong woman I am today. My fitness journey did not begin until I decided that I was tired of letting my weight and unhealthy lifestyle limit me. I remember the day I decided that I no longer wanted to be defined by the number on the scale. In 2013, I was determined to invest in my overall health. It took years of consistent hard work in the gym and practicing even more self-discipline outside of it. Fast forward several years and I am a college graduate with my degree in Nutrition and Food Science running my own health and wellness business aiding others in discovering their best self.
We’d love to hear more about Measure Me Whole.
Measure Me Whole is more than a nutrition coaching business. I have made it my personal goal to invest in each and every one of my clients. I want the people I work with to become well versed in the ways of healthy, holistic living. So much so, that they feel well equipped to go out and apply all that they have learned to everyday life. I offer nutrition services that implement practical ways to evolve unhealthy eating habits into healthful lifestyle choices. One of the ways I demonstrate how simple it is to make eating healthy practical is through creating recipes that are simple, quick, and so flavorful that everyone around the table will be asking for seconds. I share all these delicious recipes along with my many nutrition secrets, and wellness tips and trick on my Instagram (@measuremewhole) and blog (www.measuremewhole.com/blog/).
Do you recommend any apps, books or podcasts that have been helpful to you?
In order to do my best at my job, I feel that it is necessary to not only work on my physical fitness but my mental and spiritual wellness as well. I often begin my day by sitting in the still quiet of the morning with a hot cup of coffee, reading my Bible and pondering the words of Pricilla Shirer in her book ‘Awaken’. Doing this helps me reflect spiritually and prepares me to face the day as my best self. Other books that I have aided in broadening my health and wellness perspective are The Calorie Myth by Jonathan Bailor, Roar by Stacy T. Sims, and Body Love by Kelly LeVeque. Some apps that I have have found the most helpful in my line of work are the MyFitnessPal app (used for aiding in recipe creation and macro calculation for each recipe. I also use to help my clients keep a log of their food each day during our time together. This helps me be able to see what they are eating and how it could be helping or hindering their progress), Later (used for scheduling Instagram posts) and the SquareSpace app (used for keeping my website up to date and making sure that blog posts are published each week).
