Today we’d like to introduce you to Chantalle Randolph-Clark.
Chantalle, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started doing makeup in 2008 after my mother passed. I graduated from college and I could not find a job in my field. The first job I got was as a receptionist at a salon in downtown Chicago. The owner suggested that I wear makeup because we worked in the beauty industry; at that time, my makeup routine consisted of a bare face with brown lip liner and Carmex, lol. I began to practice the different techniques and developed a passion for doing makeup. I have always had the talent to do hair but I was absolutely not interested in going back to school for anything; especially something I already knew how to do. I thought about it, figured if Oprah calls me to work, I don’t want to tell her, well, I can only do your makeup and not your hair because I’m not licensed, so I got my license and now, I’m a one-stop shop.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The entrepreneurial journey has been a SLOW but steady climb. I started in 2009 and I still have not reached the level of success that I desire. If I could give any advice it would be to believe in yourself and have the courage to know that it can be done, and you can do it. One of my favorite Bible scriptures is Matthew 9:29 “Then, He touched their eyes, saying, “It shall be done to you according to your faith.” The key part of this scripture for me would be “be it done to you according to YOUR FAITH” I believe that I could have accomplished a lot more then I have if I had more courage and faith in myself early on in my career to do it and not been afraid to fail.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about your art – what should we know?
I am a licensed cosmetologist and makeup artist. I specialize in bridal/special occasion hair and makeup services. My clients know me for my classic soft glam looks. I aim to give each client an unforgettable memorable moment which is what I am most proud of. Each client receives excellent customer service; I understand that every bride is not the same so the ability to be able to adjust for each personality is what sets me apart.
Which women have inspired you in your life?
There have been several women to inspire me in my life the first being my mother she was just a force to be reckoned with in every good way possible. She was independent, strong, dedicated and loving just simply an amazing woman. My sissy Lisa inspires me in ways she never knew. She has been extremely resilient against life’s ups and downs. I like to say she’s built Ford tough. She has been my example of how to brush yourself off and get back up and try again. My pastor Moneice Goodman inspires me daily she came into my life right after the passing of my mom and although she is a young woman she stepped in and took over where my mother left off. She really helped to cultivate me into the Covergirl I have become, lol. She introduced me to what it means to have a true relationship with Christ and that is what has given me the courage to take my brand to the next level.
