Meet Trailblazer Brittney Duplessis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittney Duplessis.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My journey began partially because I didn’t see any other blogger that looked like me. Uniquely, I am a plus sized fashion, beauty and lifestyle blogger/influencer. I started blogging three years ago with many goals in mind. I wanted to create a space that would promote body positivity and inclusion. I had only hoped some young girl out there would be inspired by me. For the past three years, I have embarked on a life-changing journey! In this industry, blogging and influencing go hand in hand, I have had the honor of working with some of my favorite brands and have exclusive access to private events, product launches, and celebrity press events. Of all, I’m most proud of working with my favorite magazines Cosmopolitan, Teen Vogue and ELLE. Since growing my blog and social media following, I’ve worked with many campaigns that are similar to the message of my personal brand, such as being a brand ambassador for AerieReal last winter on the magnificent mile downtown Chicago!

Has it been a smooth road?
Luckily, I have enjoyed every moment of Blogging and Influencing, it, however, has its moments of being creatively stressful. Creating content regularly can be difficult especially while juggling real life work and responsibilities. If I could give young girls advice on starting this journey it would be to be yourself, it’s very easy to conform to the ideal version of being a blogger, but having the courage to show the world who you really are will help differentiate your brand from the rest of the community!

We’d love to hear more about your work.
As an Influencer, I have the privilege of working with my favorite brands and companies. I have access to product launches, campaigns, movie premieres, red carpets and so much more. My blog has quickly evolved from beauty and fashion reviews to celebrity press events and travel blogging. Expanding my platform and brand substantially. While my brand has grown so much over the years, I am most proud that my message hasn’t changed. Opening emails from young women from across the globe and hearing how much I inspire them to pursue their dreams has really given me the glittering fuel I need to continue to shatter glass ceilings and show the world that there are more than one nationality and body size capable of making a global impact!

Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
My childhood experience definitely helped mold me to the women I am today. I was often bullied about my size in my elementary years. I was always the tallest and chubbiest in my class. My darling mother made sure I was dressed with style and class, coordinated outfits and pigtails were my signatures. Despite childhood bullies, I was always known for my big smile and ability to be unapologetically me. I was NEVER interested in fitting in. I had to be tough and learn to love myself at a young age. Flash forward to today, I’m still that little girl with more confidence and a killer wardrobe!
