Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Rappaport.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m a mom of two young toddler boys, ages 3 and 1. I’m also a small business owner (I co-own Flawless Beauty Chicago).
I decided to start sharing tidbits about my daily life (because toddlerhood ain’t no joke!) and I also wanted to have a platform where I could be honest about how freaking difficult this motherhood business can be sometimes! A lot of people post the pretty stuff on social media – the flattering photos, the personal victories, the date night photo ops. I wanted a place to post the real sh*t. The stuff that happens to all of us, that most of us don’t talk about publicly.
So, Goldfish & Xanax was born.
Do my children eat goldfish crackers? You bet your bottom dollar they do.
Do I take Xanax?
No, I actually take Clonazepam now, but “Goldfish & Clonazepam” didn’t have the same ring to it.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being completely transparent (on social media and in real life) is both freeing and incredibly scary.
I sometimes feel the urge to censor myself. I hear the little voice saying, “Andrea, you CAN’T say that…” But I just take a deep breath, go with my gut, and click “post”.
Keeping it real is tough but totally worth it.
I don’t know how the Kardashians do it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Joooookkkkkkkiinnnnnngggg!
We’d love to hear more about Goldfish & Xanax.
Look, there are plenty of mom blogs out there. Like, at least 3 or 4. 🤣 My page is silly, honest, and REAL.
I’m here to entertain those who are just doggie paddling through the day… cause sometimes, the struggle can be beyond real.
I like to laugh at myself and the ridiculous situations that occur on the daily, and I welcome others to come and giggle with me.
If you can laugh at least once a day, things are going to be okay.
Which women have inspired you in your life?
I see so many moms with their children in the aisles of Target, Trader Joe’s, Cartier… (because I go to Cartier AT LEAST once a week) who are just doing their best to get their errands done with as few casualties as possible.
We are all in this together. My kids have been literally rolling around on the floor of Target and eating bananas from the banana stand at Trader Joe’s like freaking savages who have never seen a piece of fruit. We all have those moments where we feel like we are going to lose it. We all have those days where we feel like crying in our cars (and do) because we wonder how the hell we are going to get through until bedtime.
All of the moms I see, who are struggling right along with me, inspired me to start my page.
