Amanda has always had a passion for food and enjoys sharing her culinary experiences. Amanda started her blog, The Ghost Guest, in 2010 as an outlet for sharing her culinary experiences with others. She has always had a passion for food and visits restaurants globally detailing her experiences and offering unbiased reviews. Amanda also regularly shares her foodie finds across social media.
She is also a food and drink writer for various national publications including Thrillist and InsideHook.
When she’s not snapping photos of her meals or blogging about them, Amanda works as a full-time restaurant analyst for a global market intelligence agency. Her “day job” involves analyzing restaurant menus, and allows her to consult with restaurant operators, suppliers and agencies about foodservice trends.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It certainly has been quite the journey over the last eight years! Social media has changed so much and there are so many more people who share the same passion for food. This has created a tight-knit community of food lovers but has also made it challenging to stand out from the competition. It’s important to stay true to your core interests and voice which will always be unique.

My specialty is sharing restaurant experiences on Instagram and other platforms, as well as food writing. I love taking my followers along for the journey of dining out at a restaurant and I also love providing recommendations to other. I would say my specialty is offering honest and unbiased reviews. My audience knows that I won’t recommend something I don’t truly enjoy and I stand behind all of my recommendations. The biggest compliment I get is when someone takes my recommendation and has a fantastic experience. That’s one of the best parts of what I do!
Do you recommend any apps, books or podcasts that have been helpful to you?
My life is totally ingrained in food and beverage, both personally and professionally. I like staying up-to-date with the food service industry via trade magazines like Restaurant Hospitality and Nation’s Restaurant News. I also regularly listen to food podcasts like The Feed and The Sporkful. I am a devout reader of Chicago publications like Eater and Chicago Magazine and also spend A LOT of time on Instagram.
