Today we’d like to introduce you to Susana Scott.
Susana, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve been a licensed Esthetician for nearly two decades! I started my career working with the finest spas in the Hinsdale and Naperville area, but always had a thirst for something more. About 10 years into my career I decided I wanted to shift my focus to the pursuit of clinical aesthetics. I began working with doctors, and took seminars to really perfect my techniques of laser skin rejuvenation and medical grade skin peels. I eventually earned a certification in Sciton Laser Aesthetics and an education from PCA Skin to become an Acne Specialist. After gaining several years of experience in the high end skin care business, I took yet another professional leap, evolving into the owner of the progressive Allure Skin Studio known today.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
This industry, unfortunately, has its way of chewing you up and spitting you out. That is, it’s constantly evolving and success in this business means you must evolve along with it. The new technologies, products, and even state laws have its toll on you. I remember when I really wanted to start getting into the Clinical Aesthetics side of this industry, which was booming at the time, and trying to figure out a way take classes. Not only were they expensive but trying to fit them into my busy schedule working full time with a family was really difficult. Along the way there were people who seemed like all they wanted was to tear my success down. But I kept going, kept working, and kept helping other people. This is what has brought me to where I am today.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Allure Skin Studio – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Allure Skin Studio is a one woman show. And I am extremely proud of that. Of course I find support and partnership from my husband, but I am my own boss. I have no employees. It’s liberating! And that is what sets my business apart from the others. When a client calls, they are calling me. When they step through the door, they are seeing me. I get the opportunity to get to know every single one of my clients (and their skin!) which helps all of us see results.
We are known for transformations–whether that be with skin, acne, lashes or brows. Allure Skin Clinical Treatments are a combination of anti-aging and skin resurfacing services. Each service is specifically customized to our client’s skin and over a course of treatments can provide noticeable results. Our corrective Chemical Exfoliation is widely popular and clients find that their new, regenerated skin is smoother and less wrinkled than the old. I will say though, that a crowd favorite are lash lifts. They immediately freshen your look by enhancing your natural lashes all while leaving your mascara wand at home.
I have also produced my own skin care line, Dermaverse that has brought a lot of success and uniqueness to my business. My products are tested by me and the ingredients are hand selected by me. I have full control to give my clients the very best–and they love it!
I have always had a passion for helping people feel beautiful and I’ve dedicated my life to educating clients about proper skin care, leading them to achieve radiant and beautiful skin. That goal is as clear to me today as it was 19 years ago.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I plan to take my Dermaverse line to eCommerce. I want to be able to expand my reach to people who may not be in the area, or too busy to stop by the studio to pick up their products. The more people I am able to help achieve healthy skin, the better. But the greatest thing about the future is that no one knows exactly what’s going to happen. I find peace in letting opportunities and ideas arrive. But be forewarned, as they come I will work my very hardest until they are achieved. There is nothing, and no one, that can stop me!
