Meet Sarah Davis of Olive.You.Nanny Agency

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Davis.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started Olive.You.Nanny back in 2003! I was just 24 years old and had been a nanny for about 6 years prior in Chicago, San Francisco, and Denver. I had worked with a few agencies I just felt like the personal connection was missing. This makes Olive.You.Nanny so unique…. we are basically matchmakers! We meet every family and nanny to ensure a great match.

13 years going strong, I have also expanded OYN to Austin, Milwaukee, Charlotte, Atlanta, and Dallas! We all follow the personal approach and have placed thousands of nannies. There is nothing better than hearing from family years and years later about how we made such a big impact on their lives.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Lots of learning!!! I tell everyone who works for OYN that we are also therapists! We need to listen and understand everyone needs and truly what they are looking for. After all these years of experience, it’s gotten easier to just know who’s meant for who.

I think growing a business is a challenge. I can’t be in 6 cities at once so it’s really important to have an incredible team you can count on. Another challenge is running a business with kids. The first 5 years were tough as they were tiny but now they are in school and it’s gotten a little easier (6th-grade math has NOT!). I won’t have changed this path even though it’s been a lot of work.

Olive.You.Nanny Agency – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a Nanny Placement Agency headquartered in Chicago. I wanted to create a company that worked very hands-on with our clients. This is still our mission and we pride ourselves on a personal approach. We work with a lot of new parents (my personal fav) to show them the ropes of who’s out there, who’s the best fit and how we can guide them through the process. We do full time, part time and house manager placements.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I think I’m most proud of standing strong. I think in any business you own there are tricky situations/clients that you need to stand up and be your biggest advocate. There will always be people who will try and knock you down but you just need to get back up again.
