Thanks for sharing your story with us Roxy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Build312 first began with a vision to promote innovation, bring together pioneering entrepreneurs and grow relationships in the Midwest business community. Last year, we hosted one of the largest US-China Pitch Competition in October. This pitch competition successfully attracted 300+ attendees, 70+ startup applications and 20+ collaborators. Besides, we hosted monthly entrepreneur panel on various topics such as FinTech, Internet of Things, energy and healthcare.
Founded in Apr 2017, we have grown into a community with 3000+ online subscribers. We also just launched membership program which is directed at helping entrepreneurs removing barriers on their path of success. We are on our way to becoming an influential accelerator with intensive international connections in Chicago area.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Time is probably the most challenging thing for us. My cofounder Laura and I both work full-time. Running an organization on the side sounds easy, but planning multiple events at a time and leading a group of 30 volunteers takes a lot of effort. There were many nights we stayed up 2, 3 am working on our pitch competition, or the coming up women forum. The luckiest thing was that we found many good volunteers along the way to support our community. They have been very helpful.

Build312 is a Chicago-based community for the next generation of diverse entrepreneurial community, business leaders and investors. We host high impact events and create a dynamic entrepreneur ecosystem. Our mission is to bring together young minds in the Midwest and to connect them with funding, resources and advisors.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I think I am a real giver. I am willing to share my knowledge and discuss innovative ideas. I put effort to help entrepreneurs to promote their company, find the right talent, or get access to funding. We also donated all our sponsorship money to startup founders in the pitch competition. I care about their success and I want Build312 can be an impactful partner for them.
