Today we’d like to introduce you to Ramil Reyes.
Physical Therapy Consultants, Ltd. (PTC, Ltd) started as a staffing agency in the basement of the founder’s home Feb. 2006. The physical therapy staffing agency was started to meet the growing demands of patients needing physical therapy service for patients who are home bound. The following year, 2007, PTC, Ltd. rented a small office space at Tinley Park village for a year and purchased an office condominium property at Oak Forest, IL. From 2008 to present, Our location had served as on office for our home health physical therapy business. Due to the recent healthcare challenges, last year, December of 2016, the owner branched out into opening an outpatient clinic facility with the goal of providing a direct client one on one, evidenced based manual physical therapy, set in a private clinician environment, more of like a physician type physical therapy environment. Currently, PTC, Ltd. is operating as an outpatient private practice physical therapy clinic and home health physical therapy staffing agency.
Has it been a smooth road?
The founder was an immigrant from Philippines. The founder migrated in 2003 and was only given a 6 months working visa. The owner has to pass the license exam within six months or risk to be sent back home. The founder studied for two months and passed the IL Physical Therapy license exam in Nov. of 2003 and was qualified to extend the working visa for two years. In 2005, the owner received his green card which eventually led to his U.S. Citizenship in 2010. As a foreign graduate and to be an independent clinician, the Owner has to step up his educational background and studied two Post Graduate degrees in 2006: Clinical doctorate in physical therapy and master degree in exercise science while working as a full time physical therapist. These degrees as well as board certification for corrective exercise specialization were completed in 2007. Until now, the founder still believes in continuing his education while practicing physical therapy. Currently the founder is taking postgraduate training in spinal manual therapy which will be finished November of this year.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Our physical therapy company recognizes the individuality of each patient’s condition; thus, we focus in individualized, intensive one-on-one manual evidenced based physical therapy, translating clinical research into practice. Our uniqueness comes from treating a patient individually in a physician type clinical approach and private setting. We do not focus only on general orthopedic rehabilitation but also, we specialize in spine rehabilitation and manual therapy, chronic pain neuroscience, cervicogenic and tension type headache therapy, vertigo and corrective exercise prescription for patients with cardio-pulmonary dysfunction.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Chicago offers a great opportunity for small businesses, with diverse set of population and cultural background, it is a hub for a small business to grow. The only disadvantage is the increasing business tax every year. Hopefully, small to medium sized business can be given a qualified and justified tax responsibility so that more business can develop thereby improving the economy of Chicago.
