Meet Nancy Rosen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Rosen.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I’ve been making art my whole life, since I’m five. Going along, soldiering on, making work. A recent opportunity has found me making artwork for a character portrayed by Lily Tomlin on Netflix’s Grace and Frankie. So, that’s where I am now.

Please tell us about your art.
Many years ago, when I started painting again I realized all I want to do is paint from people; That was my “A-ha” moment. I thought, “I just want to paint people and I don’t really have a plan or end goal for it.” I just start with the model, and I could add something or someone in, or I could take it away. The process is all intuitive, and the product has no personal narrative to it. It’s simple and natural.

Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
It’s hard. It’s simply really hard to navigate. I’ve been very lucky be of the Netflix series. It has given me a platform and that makes me visible and it has changed my life as an artist.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
You can find my art online on my website, my Facebook page for my art, my Instagram, and on the sets of Grace and Frankie. You can always email me if you want to come sees the work in person at my studio.
