Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Obos.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
As a young child I would spend hours getting pictures developed from disposable cameras! I remember so vividly the sheer excitement I felt when I received my first real camera for my elementary school graduation. Creating memories through photography dates back many years and continues to be an adventure, a challenge and a passion I love pursuing.
Please tell us about your art.
With each and every session I aim to capture the natural, organic, pure emotions of all my clients. Everyone has a story and my goal is to share that story and preserve those feelings through my photography. I specialize in natural light portrait photography. My favorite time of day has always been golden hour just before the sun sets. Sunsets make for beautiful portrait lighting and being a people-centered photographer it is essential to flatter the clients with all aspects of the photo. Additionally, I believe photography is the art of freezing a moment in time in order to cherish and remember the feelings of today’s chapter for generations to come. Photography is an art and photos are shareable memories.
What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
I feel the biggest challenge facing artists today is comparing their work to others. In a market saturated with amazing talent it is easy to be extra critical of your own photos in caparison to other professionals.
One way I aim to set myself apart from the crowd is with a unique experience and focusing on the client’s emotions during my sessions. As a portrait photographer you walk with your clients on a journey through their most exciting stages of life. From the enchanting engagement ring to the big wedding day to new parents expecting their newborn and family milestones for years to come.
My advice is to keep remembering in your heart that you have a purpose and your work is valued and important. Stay true to yourself and allow your own creativity to shine through with each and every photo.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
