So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Our direction for the last 14 yrs. has been the Isola brand and providing Authentic Italian goods in the market place. When we seek out a product we try to seek out the best we can find, carrying only what we feel represents Italy and the region it is from.
Since our family is from the south of Italy, Puglia, many of our goods originate from there. All vendors must adhere to strict guidelines of production and products that are All Natural and No Preservatives for the Isola Brand. If you further look at our website you will see the different certifications we hold as a company. Providing the utmost of transparency and traceability.
Has it been a smooth road?
The building of a Brand is always a challenge. Our biggest hurdle has been getting consumers to pull off our products on the shelves of supermarkets. This is the challenge for all brands and then for consumers to become repeat customers.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Isola Imports story. Tell us more about the business.
We specialize in Authentic Italian Products. Our niche within the market is carrying better specialty Italian products. We were bringing in Truffles from Italy when this country thought they were still chocolate. Isola separates themselves based on quality, branding, and the commitment to supporting our customer base. Doing this for 25yrs tells you that we have a base of loyal supporters and our commitment to staying the course of Authentic Products. I’m most proud of the Brand we have built. It was my doing of building the vision and logo of the overall look and design. My past was working for Private Label companies in building brands and I know how south things can go if you are not right in sending your message correctly.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Consolidation continues to occur and seeing many companies selling out to the big guys due to competing margins. Margins keep getting smaller and smaller, so it is taking the guys whom have the ability to deliver and service the end customer at the most competitive price. I believe this will continue to happen, the emphasis on Transparency and Authenticity will be key in any product moving forward.
