Meet Marji Soofi of Tavoos Skin Care and Halotherapy in Western Suburbs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marji Soofi.

Marji, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have been doing skin care on three continents over 35 years. In the past fifteen years, I was seeing an immense increase in eczema and psoriasis in my clients extended family. Because Halotherapy aka Salt therapy helps to boost the immune system and all the skin conditions that I was seeing were auto-immune deficiencies I decided to build a halotherapy room. Moving my existing business to a new location and incorporating the salt therapy with our existing treatments has greatly improved our client’s physical conditions. Overtime due to the increase in clientele we have added other therapist as well as other therapies to accommodate the needs of our clients.

Has it been a smooth road?
It had not been a smooth road because the lack of education about the halotherapy in the USA when I began this project. A lot of time has been spent educating the public on the benefits of halotherapy by myself and my loyal staff and clients. We are lucky that most of referrals are through our clients who have seen immense benefits from our spa.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Tavoos is a home away from for our clients. It is there peaceful place to recharge and de-stress. My specialty is skin care although I do electrolysis, permanent make-up, and make-up. At the spa we offer customized facials, anti-aging, body and face treatments, reflexology, body massage, infrared sauna treatments, and body scrubs.

I am proud of the difference we make in our clients lives with the results they get. Whether it is reducing allergies and boosting their immune system, and improving their skin conditions (acne, psoriasis, eczema,) with halotherapy treatments.

What sets us apart from others is our knowledge, our halo-generator in the Halotherapy room and the combined treatments of halotherapy, Infrared Sauna, and skin treatments we customize to our client’s conditions.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I do think that Chicagoland area is very versatile and has a good diverse population to start a small business. I think starting a business anywhere is not easy, it needs patience and lot of dedication and hard work. I do not think Chicago is different than any other city for starting a business. I wish the city was more small business friendly with less red tape.
