Meet Madeline Doherty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madeline Doherty.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
During my senior year of college, I reached out to a well-known Chicago photographer, and now, successful blogger named Helen Berkun. The timing was actually perfect because she was looking for someone to help jump start her YouTube channel as well as do all the shooting and editing of the content. We began working together and from there I ended up networking and meeting many of the consistent clients I have now. I’ve always had a passion for film, video, photography and all things media. I also genuinely enjoy working with new people as well as keeping close relationships with all my clients.

Please tell us about your art.
I primarily shoot and edit digital video. Anything from online commercials, campaign promos, and behind-the-scenes music videos, I try to work on as many new projects as possible. I shoot photography as well.

What do you think about conditions for artists today? Has life become easier or harder for artists in recent years? What can cities like ours do to encourage and help art and artists thrive? Video marketing is everything right now, and with visual platforms like Instagram and YouTube, the demand for video content as a marketing tool will continues to grow. In today’s age, it is easier to be an artist than ever before. Utilizing and being attuned to social media is key.

There is a direct correlation between my website traffic and the amount of exposure my portfolio/work gets on Instagram. I think in recent years; social media was still in its infancy as people tried to “play” with what would work as far it being a marketing tool for creatives. Now, it is by far one of the best free marketing tools for artists trying to generate exposure and get work.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
