Meet Lord Haiti

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lord Haiti.

Born and raised in the West Side of Chicago, the young DJ / Producer Lord Haiti has been quietly crafting a sound that contrast the hard hitting “Drill” sound that has given Chicago most of its recognition of late. Haiti, who from time to time will also use the moniker “Laerec” — cereal spelled backwards – credits his warped, heavy synthesized sound to the influence of some his favorites, such as J Dilla, Madlib, The Neptunes, Flying Lotus, and Timbaland. With a touch of their sound, mixed with the clashing sounds of Hip Hop, R&B, House music, and EDM, he, as he proclaims, created a new genre of in music, “Vibe Music”.

Please tell us about your art.
I developed my own genre called “Vibe Music”. It consists of various sub genres that I blend with each other. I called it Vibe because its high vibrational music and I want my vibes to transcend the listener beyond the physical. I want my music to be more of an experience than what someone hears because those experiences carry memories. You experience vibes, you don’t listen to them

As an artist, how do you define success and what quality or characteristic do you feel is essential to success as an artist?
As an artist, I view success as being a vessel for innovation, inspiration, and nobility. Going the extra mile to do things that are unheard of, putting my best foot forward in being genuinely me with little to no effort. Humility is very essential to success as an artist. Your character will really take you a long way in all endeavors; even when you feel like you have it all, your character defines how much you can sustain success. Your patience is also key. The universe will always test your patience with the circumstances or obstacles thrown at you. Sometimes you’re thrown with distractions to take you off your path, and that’s the test.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
