Meet Leslie Venetz of Carpathia Marketing in River North

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leslie Venetz.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Leslie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Carpathia was started with a goal of rescuing businesses from trade shows. While individuals still crave personal interactions, they are no longer willing to waste time & money attending outdated shows.

Carpathia allows all attendees to come together in a Bucket-List location for 3 days of networking, learning, and adventure. By blending guaranteed, pre-scheduled face-to-face meetings with exciting networking events, Carpathia creates an environment where you make meaningful connections.

Carpathia started when the company Founder & CEO, Buck Peavey, came to me with the idea of Bucket-List Networking. Having attended decades of trade shows & conferences as well as trying his hand at direct mailers, inside sales efforts, and more – he was fed up with the lackluster results.

Having spent a decade working for the global leader in corporate event planning, Mr. Peavey knew I could turn the idea of Bucket-List Networking into a viable product. Now we are excited to call Fortune-ranked companies like Marriott, Dyson, Moen, Las Vegas Sands, and Nautilus Fitness amongst our clients.

We are excited, but not surprised, to learn that our clients were eager for a new, more genuine way to network. At Carpathia, we look forward to expanding our Summit offerings and venturing into new markets in the coming years so that we can offer Bucket-List Networking to a wider audience.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As a contrast to some of the Startup horror stories I’ve heard, I would say it has been a pretty smooth road. I think the biggest struggle has been one of transition.

My experience has been in either a University setting or in working for private, British firms. In both of those environments, there are lots of established processes as well as large support networks. Transitioning to Carpathia, I needed to find my own way.

It was difficult but was also an extremely exciting challenge. This role has empowered me to learn and grow in many ways. Recently, I’ve taught myself the nuances of marketing automation, the ins and outs of our e-commerce platform, and social media best practices. A decade later, I can finally tell people that I am using my University degree in Business Marketing!

Working on a small team has also provided a humbling look at just how much I leaned on the IT, marketing, and finance team in other roles. It has made me appreciate the hard work those team members do even more.

Please tell us about Carpathia Marketing.
Carpathia Summits is an innovative events company offering customers a chance to build meaningful connections through Bucket-list networking events. We are creating high-level Summits focused on idea-sharing, relationship acceleration, and – most importantly – adventure networking, sure to build lasting bonds.

What we are most proud of and also what sets us apart is a desire to treat our employees, customers, and partners with respect. Our company values are rooted in working with integrity and passion. We want everybody that works with Carpathia to know that we value their contribution.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood is spending time with my grandparents at their riverfront home. They had acres of property on the outskirts of town for me to roam around and explore. It was ideal for a rambunctious kid.

What I remember most are the moments I shared with them and the memories we created. It’s the little things like the way the Snap Dragons in their flower garden looked, the way my favorite hide and seek spot felt, or the taste of my grandma’s homemade cookies that create my happiest childhood memories.
