Today we’d like to introduce you to Kia Jenkins.
Kia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
When I was 16, I was at my sister’s wedding. The wedding started 2 hours late and things didn’t go as planned. I felt helpless like I couldn’t make things better for her. I knew there was someone that had to be in charge of events like these and my dream started from there.
I started to plan events for family and friends to get my feet wet and learn the ends and outs. I was just having fun and making thing pretty. I had no clue back then I could make a career out of event planning. Once I figured that out Kia Marie Events was born.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Smooth road? Ha! Entrepreneurship is never a smooth road. I still have struggles today. Everyone in the industry is not as friendly as one would think. I had to learn everything on my own. I thought things had to be done a certain way only to find out later that I’m the boss, this is my business and I do what is best for me and my business. Who cares what other people think anyway.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Kia Marie Events – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I grew up appreciating all things beautiful; nature, people, art, and events. There is something wonderful about bringing loved ones together. The beauty is in the smiles, laughter and the wonderful details. I love romance and love all things pretty. Our clients love that we can bring their visions to life with opulent, exquisite personal touches.

Our specialty is creating an extraordinary event for our client’s guests. I’m really proud of my company and staff. They are hard workers and I can not pull it off without them.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
As of now we are hosting a class called Rock KME Style we believe creating a community and building relationships are two solid attributes of the entrepreneurship journey. Collaborating with other business owners is the first step to cultivating those attributes. In order to be successful, it is important to support your other entrepreneurs.
