Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Frierson.
Jeremy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
First, I want to say thank you for the opportunity to share my story. To be honest, fashion was never my initial goal. My interest in styling was born when I was approached by my pastor. During the time when I was a volunteer at my church for their renovation process, I was painting the walls of the church, he then approached me stating, “I want you to style me.” I was hesitant at first because I had no experience in styling.
However, I agreed to the challenge. I proceeded by asking him what did he want to achieve with his style. He then replies, “I’m not sure, but here’s some money I trust you to figure it out – you’re a smart guy.”
As you can tell this wasn’t an easy job. I took what was given to me and stepped out on faith. I approached shopping using the same principles I used to style myself, while hoping to come back with something to present to him.
After bringing to him what I found – he loved it! From that day forward, it was easy to notice his style was changing. As a result of this people began to figure out who I was and started inquiring about styling. I initially started styling as favors, but I told myself if I continued to get requests, then I would branch out and start this as a legitimate business. Ironically enough, my Pastor’s wife approached me and asked if I also styled women? So of course, I agreed, and used the same process as I had done before.
At that point, I started to really get the hang of it. As her style evolved it brought a lot of attention to me which led to where I am today. In August 2017, I developed JF Image Consulting and this year marks my 1 year anniversary in business.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Absolutely not. Anyone who starts a business will always experience high and low points. It’s what you do with those moments and experiences that will dictate the outcome of your business. I am extremely passionate about what I do and how my work reflects me and my clients. Starting off, there have been times when I would pay out-of-pocket beyond their budget just to ensure my clients looked good.
Now of course that isn’t the most wise thing to do, but it demonstrates how much effort I put into my clients. I will go above and beyond to make sure all my clients’ needs are always exceeded such as: running around the city of Chicago to find a shirt, spending countless hours visiting various stores, and being given limited information regarding the style of the client. Sometimes I’m require to finalize a client’s request with a two-day notice. I think those are the “struggles” that make this job unique and has helped to refine my skills.
JF Image Consulting – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a stylist, specializing in wardrobe styling, editorial styling and closet reorganization/revamping. My business is an image consulting company. I’m primarily known for my wardrobe styling. I am most proud of building my brand from scratch and the positive impact I’m making in the lives of my clients.
I believe what sets me apart from others is my willingness to go above and beyond all my clients expectations. Always exceeded. My services include home delivery, dry cleaning, and tailoring services. The only literal thing my client has to do in the midst of it all is pick their favorites. All of the work is left up to me.
My services is for the man or woman who either lacks time, patience, or creative direction for their image. It is also for the individual who has it all together and just needs someone to personally shop for them. Whatever the case may be, my job is to help my clients to discover their style, and rebrand their image.
