I started Niswa Fashion two years ago, at the age of 20, to sell modest wear to women in the Chicagoland area. I knew there was a strong demand for modest clothing, such as long-sleeved dress shirts and long-length dresses, because of how difficult it was, at the time, to find clothing that caters to women who want to dress modestly. We launched our company with just a small collection of about 10 pieces, and those sold out right away within my family and friends. After that, the word spread, and the demand for my collection grew immensely! Starting off with just 10 dresses, we eventually hit 50 dresses! What started off as a hobby, eventually grew into an entire business that caters to all women who are in search for modest wear. I gathered a dedicated team, we made a website, and our social media grew!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It seemed easy in the beginning with just a few articles of clothing. As the company grew, I learned a lot more about how a business is actually supposed to run. I never realized how much commitment it took to run a full on business, and there was a lot that I didn’t know about when it came to running a clothing brand. Website building, marketing, social media, etc. There is so much that actually goes on ‘behind the scenes’ that no one really acknowledges, and it’s definitely not picture-perfect like how I had imagined it to be. The trials and errors were definitely not easy!
The struggle I personally feel now considering that the company is expanding, is managing my time between work and home. It’s difficult to find the right balance, but I am trying my hardest to do so. My phone keeps on buzzing nonstop! When you run your own company that means you are in charge of just about everything. I deal with the shipping, marketing, designing, etc. It’s literally like taking care of a baby!

Niswa Fashion is a modest clothing brand catering to all women who are looking for modest wear. We specialize in long dresses, cardigans, scarves, and so much more! We carry different types of materials, so there is an option for everyone. It’s like a modest wear wonderland! Everyone that stops by our store or comes across our website loves the variety of clothing items that they see. So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We have a lot in plan for Niswa Fashion. We are trying to branch out to more locations so that we are more accessible to everyone. We hope to soon have our collection available in the mainstream market. We are working on more products and are really excited about some upcoming projects. We would love for Niswa Fashion to be a household name for women who wish to shop for modern, yet modest clothing.
