Today we’d like to introduce you to Gerald Paulsen.
I started Paulsen Productions in 1994. Beginning with support from close friends, I created a unique program to bring professional development to business professionals capitalizing on skills learned as a non-commissioned officer in the Army and career in law enforcement. Taking the advice of successful business colleagues, I then began the journey of becoming an entrepreneur through hard work, sweat equity, and networking, networking, networking. I Joined the Task Force for Veteran Entrepreneurs in 2003 which propelled Paulsen Productions in the veteran business world and me and my company became a respected SME (Subject Matter Expert) in Veteran Business. The company continued to grow to not only doing work in the corporate arena but also with the federal government.
Looking ahead Paulsen Productions expanded and opened its first international office in 2006 in São Paulo, Brazil followed by opening an office in China in 2008 and Guam in 2009. Paulsen Productions is a leader in the corporate professional development and has 4 divisions to the company – Presentation Skills Dynamics, Education Impressions, Motivation Concepts and Guam Business Discovery. Paulsen Productions is the only company in the United States that takes companies of any size and in any business arena to Guam on 7-day business discovery/networking trips in support of the largest military buildup since WWII through Guam Business Discovery.
Has it been a smooth road?
As with any business, there have been struggles, setbacks and hurdles to overcome during the past 23 years. The biggest challenges have been creating the best team to make everything work. In 2008 when I was recognized the United States Small Business Administration Veteran Business Champion of the Year it was not because of me, but because of the fantastic team that was with me and the company. Over 90% of the staff are fellow veterans, and veterans know how to get the job done to succeed.
I can say with great confidence that starting a company from scratch without knowing anything about business was the toughest challenge and not have any mentorship in the early years. Once I got my first mentor who owned a very successful business changed everything for me and for Paulsen Productions.
And as Paulsen Productions began to grow and to have a mentor, networking every day and constantly being open to new ideas, thinking outside the box and growing the business network was pivotal for the growing expansion and success along with growing the business portfolio and business diversity.

Paulsen Productions is a Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB) specializing in communication and presentation skills. Through our customized programs, workshops, seminars and retreats Paulsen Productions works with any company and business professional – from new hire to CEO. In the education arena, Paulsen Productions provides unique workshops for young adults with it’s one of a kind program for high school juniors and seniors to prepare them for their college entrance interviews or entering into the business world along with seminars and programs for parents, educators & administrators. Through every seminar, workshop, program or retreat everyone has a high energy, interactive and fun experience that will give them the tips, tricks, and techniques to become even more successful on their individual journey.
